TriagePolitics Defined:
Triage is a strategy used by physicians in a disaster situation. In times of great need and limited resources triage is a method to prioritize the use of resources to aid the most people possible until further aid is available.
Politics is a process by which groups of people make decisions. In America the people's ability make informed decisions is often distorted by a profit-driven media industry, the vast influence of well-funded special interest groups, and the ulterior motives of elected officials. The difficulties our nation has had making good decisions about health care has led us into what many call a health care crisis.
The goal of TriagePolitics.com is to approach America's health care crisis with the urgency it deserves. It is an attempt to improve American health care from the front-lines. My goal is to learn how to best utilize the tools-at-hand and to offer common-sense solutions to some of the challenges that our over-burdened health care system faces.
Disclaimer: As a physician I have the obvious bias of being an advocate for patients, but in America's abstract and often detached health care debate I hope that type of bias might act as a balancing force. In addition, my clinical training and practice does not make me large-picture health policy expert, but it does allow me a sort of common-sense insight into the issues that seems to be in short supply.
The "Blog" - I started the blog to record observations on health care and progress notes from my insurance project. Much of the content is updated weekly - not daily. Many entries start out on a note book I take to work with me.
